Value of MediaStorm’s New Multimedia Training

I asked Lucy Nicholson, a senior staff photographer with Reuters based in Los Angeles, about the value of MediaStorm’s new workshops. Lucy attended in May. I’ve read a few posts that have questioned the cost, $3,500 for tuition only, and whether or not the course was worth the price of admission. Here’s her answer:
I think [...]

I just got back from Dallas after interviewing David [...]

Some bad news thrown in with some good news from the recent release of the Cox Center 2006 Annual Survey Findings of Journalism and Mass Communication Graduates. Using Camera & Lens Movements Effectively

This excellent article by Cyndy Green on her blog VideoJournalism discusses when to use and more often, when you shouldn’t use, camera and lens movement.
Zooming, panning, and tilting…
These are sometimes the most effective tools in the VJ’s shooting toolbox and should be the least used too. But all too often beginners can’t hold still and [...]

This is a great piece on aging and sexuality called “Never too old.” Good editing, narration, and sound. I showed this in my visual communication class the other day and the students raved about [...]
